Well Technology
Dynaflow Research Group is capable of assisting well operators and manufactures of well equipment, tubings and casings in the design and validation of equipment and techniques used for well operations/procedures. The services offered comprise e.g. efficiency studies and force prediction studies. But also the design of e.g. composite well tubing for geothermal applications or application and design of new materials like fiberglass composites for casings as alternatives to existing conventional materials.
For these analyses, we have a broad arsenal of engineering tools/software available. Partly developed inhouse, partly commercial industry accepted engineering software packages.
Using (validated) Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) techniques to simulate behavior of flow inside wells at a high resolution allows for an understanding of the flow’s behavior that is difficult to obtain through measurements inside the wells itself.
Dynaflow has assisted its clients for several types of flow studies inside wells. Below is a selection of these projects briefly explained.
Increasing Sealing Efficiency of Well Abandonment Methods through CFD
Computational Fluid Dynamics for well fluid simulations that can be used for well optimization.
Force Prediction and Optimization of Novel Directional Drilling Tool
Drilling flow simulations to improve the design and efficiency of drilling tools.
Geothermal Wells
Design, application and standards development for corrosion resistant composite well-tubing and casings.
